REGULAR MEETING
AUGUST 8, 2023
Mayor Blakley brought the First Regular Meeting of the Dinosaur Town Council to order at 6:00 p.m. Those present were Mayor Richard A. Blakley, Trustees Darcie Rocque, Jeremiah Gray, Marshelle Gray, Michael Taylor, Robert Essex, and LeRoy Trujillo.
Trustee Rocque made a motion, seconded by Trustee Essex, to approve the accounts payable as presented. Ayes: 7. Nays: 0. Motion carried.
Trustee J. Gray made a motion, seconded by Trustee Essex, to approve the minutes from July 14, July 25 and August 4 as presented. Ayes: 7. Nays: 0. Motion carried.
Trustee J. Gray made a motion, seconded by Trustee Taylor to approve the marijuana renewal for Northwest Cannabis Inc. as presented. Ayes: 7. Nays: 0. Motion carried.
Mayor Blakley said that we will know more on the tanks by Thursday morning when the Contractor gets here. He said that it pretty much drained down.
Mr. Elarton said that they have been working on the water tanks. He said that they have been busy the last two weeks with medical calls.
Trustee Taylor asked if the application for Stone Age Stampede got sent out. Tamara said that it was mailed Friday, and then sent by email on Monday.
Trustee Essex mentioned that there is a new County Guy. He said that he lives in Skull Creek. Mayor Blakey said that he had been with the State. He said that he had talked to him about some of the roads.
Trustee Trujillo asked why there isn’t anything getting mowing. Mr. Elarton said that part of it is on their end. He mentioned that he was going to have a DJ do a lot of Code Enforcement. He said that he hasn’t been able to do it with all the calls that they have been getting.
Trustee Essex asked if there are seniors that need help, he said that he would take care of them. Trustee Trujillo said that they had cut some of the weed across from Conoco until the belt on his mower broke. He said that if a fire started it would be bad with all the propane tanks.
Trustee M. Gray asked if the town has maintained all the town’s property. She said that if we start enforcing it, they are going to start pointing the finger at us, if ours is not done.
Trustee Essex said that a lot of people come and complain to him over different things. He said that he has situations also, he said that we all have situations of a sort. And that we should be kinder to each other when it comes to that.
Mr. Elarton said that he got a list of property owners from the County. So that they can send out letters giving 10 days to take care of it.
Trustee Taylor said that he has been mowing some of the alleys and has noticed that there are meter pits with no lids. He said that we need more help or more employees. Mayor Blakey said that we need to have the money. Mr. Lando Blakley said that they need to get more help with the employees that they have got.
Mr. Paul Jachim asked if the Judge gives out community service, he said that they could do a lot. Mr. Elarton said that it usually takes more supervision than paying someone to do it. He said that they usually do not have that kind of judgement here. He said that the courts used to give out community service. But now they go through an agency in Craig, and if they get anyone from Dinosaur, they call us, and we would have to go through them. Mayor Blakley said that they must pay their own insurance.
Trustee Essex made a motion to adjourn the meeting at 6:20 p.m. all were in favor.
